Macy’s 4th Of July Fireworks®

 

 

New York, NY – June 5, 2017 – The views of the big booms are set for July 4 covering over two miles of prime spots for the nation’s largest pyrotechnic display - the 41st Annual Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks®.

 

Macy’s annual Independence Day celebration will offer front row views for millions of New York City residents and Americans across the country. The show, beginning at approximately 9:25 p.m. will ignite the sky over the East River centered in midtown with a series of more than 60,000 effects.

 

Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks can be viewed from any area with an unobstructed view of the sky above the East River. The five barges stationed between East 24th Street and East 41st Street are best seen from:

 

MANHATTAN

  • Public viewing will be set up along elevated portions of the F.D.R. Drive. The lanes will be opened to the public at approximately 7:00 PM with access at Houston, 23rd, 34th, and 42nd

 

BROOKLYN

  • The fireworks may be viewed from any area with an unobstructed view of the sky above the East River.

 

 

 

 

SPECIAL NOTES:

  • All Manhattan and Brooklyn access blocks will close as viewing areas fill up. Spectators will be re-directed to open access blocks as appropriate. All access points are subject to change up until the day of the event by NYPD.
  • All spectators should note that lawn chairs, blankets, backpacks/containers or other large bags will not be permitted into the public viewing locations for security purposes. Spectators are subject to search by NYPD.

 

THE FOLLOWING AREAS ARE NOT VIEWING LOCATIONS FOR THE

2017 MACY’S 4th Of July FIREWORKS

  • Battery Park
  • Battery Park City
  • Roosevelt Island
  • Hunter’s Point South Waterfront Park
  • Brooklyn Bridge Park

 

The best way to attend the show is by public transportation via the Metropolitan Transit Authority.  Due to the expected high volume of traffic, spectators are urged to leave their cars at home. Parking is not available in the viewing areas. Macy’s recommends a round trip fare with a Metrocard™ purchased in advance. Additional buses, subways and MTA trains will be available to and from the event. Bus service near the fireworks will be rerouted. For additional information and exact times, please contact the MTA at 511 for automated travel information 24/7, agents are also available daily from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM at the Transit Hotline (718) 330-1234, online help is available by visiting www.mta.info to plan your trip with “Trip Planner.”

  • From Long Island & New Jersey – transfer at Penn Station to the A, C, or E subway line to 14th Street and transfer to the L to 1st Avenue

 

METRO NORTH

  • From Westchester, Duchess, and Putnam Counties and Connecticut to Grand Central Terminal

 

EMERGENCY MEDICAL FACILITIES

New York City Emergency Medical Services and health services personnel will be positioned at the major viewing locations. For further assistance, contact a policeman in your viewing area.
