NEW YORK, NY – February 25, 2016 – This season, Macy’s is offering clothing and accessories that evoke joie de vivre. From pieces that call to mind nostalgic mid-century femininity to folkloric prints and textures serving as updates to Woodstock-era wanderlust, the men’s and women’s collections at Macy’s for spring 2016 focus on easy-chic style perfect for all occasions.

Macy’s wants to see how customers interpret the season’s hottest trends and make them their own. During the month of March, customers who post a photo on Twitter and Instagram showcasing their favorite spring looks with the hashtag #MacysLove*, may end up on billboards in select cities throughout the United States, and on one of the world-famous billboards in Times Square in New York City! Those whose photos end up in Times Square will receive a souvenir photo of their 15 seconds of fame to share on social media.

Succumb to the charms of country club luxury and seaside escapes with modern updates on the classics. Gingham, eyelet and floral prints in peony pink, limoncello yellow and sweet chartreuse adorn fit-and-flare dresses, crisp blouses, and cigarette pants. Charter Club’s gingham anorak jacket is a fresh take on the storied pattern, and has an on-trend sporty feel. The 1950s midi-length dress continues to be hot for spring, and RACHEL Rachel Roy’s version features a floral print sheer overlay that brings it to 2016. Macy’s is living the hippie fantasy, channeling gypset style. Back are the flea market finds of paisley maxis, flare-leg pants and suede tunics, now with a bohemian-meets-bourgeois application. Psychedelic prints harmonize with semi-bright shades and warm tones, and beads, fringe, and patchwork are defining elements of this festival-ready look. A suede romper from American Rag serves as the perfect foundation for a folksy turquoise and pink necklace, and ikat print beaded and wood-trimmed clutch, both from I.N.C. International Concepts. Style & Co.’s peasant top with tassel details and flared jeans tap into an ethereal, free-spirited flower child sensibility a la the legendary Joni Mitchell.
Denim continues to lead the fashion pack in spring, and unexpected applications of the ubiquitous fabric highlight the offerings at Macy’s. Distressed, frayed and patchwork styles carry on this season’s folk-heroine 1970s vibe. Crisp white and blue washes rule the scene as skirts with button-front details, dyed-to-look-denim sweatshirts, and delicate sundresses reinvent the trend. The chambray shirt is the new classic, and the cropped version by Thalia Sodi looks both unfussy and glamourous when paired with a graphic skirt and heels by the same designer. I.N.C.
